Because it's close to home and supposedly has a few fish, I tried Ronald Bog. As it turned out, I did not do much fishing. There was a steady, strong wind coming straight at me, and it was almost impossible to cast a light line, so I gave up after 30 minutes. Water temperature was 54 degrees, water high.
Time was about 1:45 pm.
Decided to head south to Bitter lake, and try my luck there.
Conditions were better at Bitter Lake. The bank fishing is from the south and west shoreline, so the wind was at my back, and casting no problem. Tried worms with bobber about 5' down. No action, so switched to bottom fishing. No bites. Left about 3:00.
Warmer water and betteer days ahead!

Hey Porta-Bote. Try going up as far up as you can along the west bank of Bitter Lake and cast out some bait about 100' or as far as you can throw towards the middle of the lake. There's a weed bed out there and fish seem to hang out there. I've seen a lot of risers and fish get caught there. Some Eastern European guys go there and fish with powereggs and do pretty well. Best time seems to be from 6pm until sunset recently. Weather.com has a fishing forecast feature that can give you an idea of what the fishing will be like on any given day.

There aren't many of us... but a few out there that fish this lake. Thanks for the report, try it again on a less windy day. Try corn for carp, and it you can get on the water, use no weight except your hook and maybe a single split shot.

Keep an eye out for these Eastern European guys. I know they are catching mor ethan allowed at multiple lakes. I have found fish tossed the bushes at ballinger last summer just after they left. I have a very strong suspician it is the same group that hits multiple lakes , including Ballinger, after they limit out at bitter or Martha. I have nothing againt anyone personally, just people who lie, cheat and steal and think it is ok.

Yeah, don't mean to be a downer but I think it's important that we report poachers and violators to WDFW. Note information like violators' physical description, vehicle description, license plate number, time, location and description of violation, etc. but NEVER confront them directly or indirectly. Report your findings to WDFW at http://wdfw.wa.gov/enforcement/reporting_violations.html. They have limited staff so they depend on people like us to help them out by giving them information that will lead to the violators' capture.
