When you said you were targeting "Big" ones today, you weren't kidding. That is a nice fish. The others on the pole look quite respectable also. No wonder they have returned to fish with you year after year. Keep up the good work Joe.

At least its proof that there is still a few ling cod left in the lake. The Lakers are gonna put an end to the kokes soon just like they did to the ling cod. SAD!

I would have to disagree with you on the Laketrout wiping the Population of Kokanee out of Lake Chelan because what I see is that the Laketrout do not target kokanee all the time..Only time I see Kokanee in the stomachs is Late winter and Spring time when the Kokanee are on there Migration to the lower Basin to put on growth while feeding on Plankton. The Laketrout only target the Koks when the Koks are in the Tight Packed schools. The rest of the time of the year they are feeding on The Shrimp and then there diet changes a little to Sticklback as Fall comes then Back to Shrimp then when the WDFW Stock Rainbow then I see rainbow in the Stomach ,then I see shrimp, and it goes on.. WDFW will stock the Cutthroat , then I see Shrimp again..So in conclusion I do see that the Kokanee Population will always sustain itself in Lake Chelan because of the size and Depth of the lake..We had in the Kokanee Survey this last year 93000 kokenee REDS in Company Creek and BlackBerry creek in the upper basin..The Mainstem of the Stehiken River is never in the survey, Plus WDFW try to Stock 250,000 Kokanee every year. Actually what I do see is that there is way to Many Kokanee in Lake Chelan and if there was less Koks in the Lake the Kokanee size range would increase from 7 to 9 inches to maybe 12 to 15 inches..Because of the amount of Kokanee in our Lake, the Plankton that they feed on would be more readily available if the numbers were reduced from WDFW Stocking and hey I may be on to saving the state some money on having to raise these Kokanee..In Conclusion this is my own opinion on what I see on a daily basis year round...
