Largemouth Bass

Never fished this lake before so thought I would get out there and check it out and get a water temp., which was 50.

I did pitch some jigs around and thought I had one bite, could be mistaken. Threw a green pumpkin tube here and there, as well. No fish but I think I will go back.

Most bass in that lake are caught in the end where the lake outlets into Chambers Creek. There used to be a huge grandstand built out over the lake for diving competitions in the 1930's. The bottom is full of pilings. Look for the marked pilings in the middle near the outlet. That's the corner of the old stands. From there south and east is where it was. It's a great trout lake too, at the other end where Clover Creek flows in.

Forgot to say, while you're in the area, try Lk. Waughop in Ft. Steilacoom Park just down the road across from Western State Hospital. It's got some lunker bass in it, although I wouldn't eat any fish from that lake. They also release extra full grown salmon into it so you may get a surprise if you hook into one of those.

Thanks for the info. Always appreciated when trying out a new spot. I went back today and got one decent largemouth:)

I like the history lesson on the diving. I would have never guessed. Is that end of the lake deep enough to dive into? That would be a cool picture to see. I like that old stuff like that, thanks again.
