Hit the water at 9:30 am started fishing south from the launch on the west side. The temps were 49.1* the water was calm within the first hour, then the wind picked up to 10 mp + whitch makes it hard to feel hits and control the boat. One of the pitches to a fallen log I felt the tap and my line was wraped around my rod and in a near by tree. I tried to set the hook with the line only a foot or so from the real well it wasn't ment to be. I set my craw fish trap and fished on for a while longer with no luck. I put every thing away and thought I would check the trap befor I leave. When I was close to the spot where I had missed a nice fish earlier, I will just fish over to the trap when I saw a fish bust the water it looked like a dink blue gill or trout so I pitched the jig and let it sit. After a few sec's gave a slight bump then eased it to the boat with a pause every so often. Tap Tap set the hook to a great fight, I thought the fish was 6+ but it scaled out at 5.2 lbs. I didn't get any pics ( didnt bring camara! ) SKUNK AWAY !!! I did put the camara in the boat when I got home.

Now that's the kind of fish to get the skunk off.

I thought crayfish/crawdad season didn't open until some time in May. But I don't 'fish' for crawdads. Maybe I should because I did catch one last summer on a crankbait. :-) Altho it had a smallie around it. Pulled my crankbait out of the smallie's mouth and a BIG crawfish came out with it. lol

Yea Tom, I didn't even check the regs. Didn't know there was a season. I was going to use them for bait, but I will let them go in the morn. Thanks for the heads up! I did get a cell pic of the fish but dont have the right disk to upload. Yea the first of the year is a pig thats lets me know it's going to be a good season.
