Once again, U20 Purple Glow Flatfish off the downriggers were the ticket on Chelan. We looped that indeterminate flat downlake from the Bar for our fish. Truth be told 6 of our 8 fish and 11 of our 14 bites came from one pothole in that flat. Look for that water that is between 210 and 215 once the daylight is an hour or 2 old... Jim Weese brought Heather out with his kids, Ryan and Maddy.
Like I said, we looped it. We started by Sunnybank and had 2 fish on in the first 15 minutes. Unfortunately, 11 year old Maddy lost hers, but 9 year old Ryan fought his to the net. It was the big fish of the day at 6 lb , 9ounces. We went blank for most of an hour until we hit that pothole. We nailed another fish and before we got out of it, a third fish was hooked and brought to the net. We then completed another loop with nada until we hit the same hole. Then while I was conducting a radio interview we hooked and landed doubles! Couldn't have planned it any better. It was really lucky that I had my deckhand, Jaime along to direct traffic and net fish. We then turned and burned a couple of times to pick up fishes #6 and #7. We took pictures, cleaned fish and then Jim got the last fish of the day as we were reeling in the lines to head in. It was a very respectable 5lb 11oz laker that snatched his flatfish while he was reeling it in. It was a great way to entertain the kids during spring break without a TV or electronics involved...
Sorry, I tried to rotate it before sending, but it didn't work for me.
