I'm starting off by combining an afternoon trip on the 6th with my buddy Joe Cortez. We trolled ponds 1 and 2 with little to show for three hours of fishing. We managed to salvage the day with 5 hook ups on trout 50 yards from the pond 1 launch by casting a jighead and crawler to rising dimpling trout. (I rated that day only a 2). Monday's trip was great because I got into the Largemouth Bass at Buena pond # 6 again. It was so cool because I caught a solid 2 and and a half pound Largie on the same spot I got a 3 and a half pound bucketmouth last week. (C+R) that fish. I switched up using a 3" green pumpkin tube jig and a 3" baby bass senko rigged on a shakey jighead. It was a bonafide pattern.fishing off the bank because two 2 lb largemouth came off the came stickup. I also caught 6 trout on smoke 2" skirt jig to add to the excitement. If only I could get my Samsung digital camera photo card to successfully down load my pictures to my Computers photo gallery... I would like to show you guys some decent late winter Bass pics! I know using a Quantum ultralite rod for largemouth is unorthadox but a quality 4 lb line and a good Simano spinning reel has allowed me to land some big fish. Strangely, my accomplished fisher-buddy Neph couldn't buy a bite from Bass or trout... Go figure? Anyway, Buena pond has become my go to Bass destination close to home. With gas prices surging so high it looks like I won't be taking too many trips up to Banks this year. Oh well fishin' is fishin' any way you look at it...' Jiggy . .
