Ron and Sue McGhee were nice enough to bring Nick McGhee (16) and Ken Jacobs out fishing with me. We started up at above the Yacht Club and got a nice fish (6.2 pounds) on T4 purple glow flatfish and one other fish on a Kingfisher Lite spoon in about 2 hours of work. We decided to move to the trench at about 10:00. I trolled the length of the trench and didn't mark many fish. We picked up one right at the bottom end, but we decided it wasn't good enough to keep us there. We moved up to Manson Bay and found scads of smaller fish and pounded them. We picked 17 there in about 2.5 hours of trolling. The little F7 purple glow flatfish was probably the best, but we actually had a couple of quads. In addition to the flatfish, Rushin' Salmon Wobblers and Kingfisher lites got bit. After the sun came up and got us above freezing, it was a very pleasant day to be out. Ron made a great deckhand. The fishing was great and the company was better. What a wonderful group to fish with!

Those are some smaller fish. Is there an area of the lake that you would consider the nursery. I mean to say. An area that concentrates smaller lakers? Just curious.

Those came off the face of Manson Bay. You can also get some of those bright red eater fish over by the monument, but it is risky.

By risky, are you saying snaggy bottom?

Yes, there are spires that come out of nowhere. The bottom slopes steeply. It is very rocky. I suspect the bottom looks like the scene of an old artillery battle with all the balls on the bottom.

I do very well over in the monument "area" jigging. Most of the fish there are those smaller ones but I have caught a few in the 5-8lb range.
