I headed out a little late yesterday around 10:30. The fishing was hot, if you want to catch a ton of little perch. I think you could get more meat off a goldfish from Wal-mart than most of the fish that came through the ice. I was using a silver and red swedish pimple. I would jig it fast for 30 seconds, then really slow it down and be ready for the bite. I was fishing in about 12-15 feet of water. I was fishing just north of Jerry's landing. The action was consistent all day but never got into anything big enough to keep. The ice was a little over a foot. The top layer was white ice. I don't ice fish a lot, but the ice was louder this time than any other time I have fished there. I'm not sure why that was but it is creepy sounding to hear cracks all over. sorry nothing really picture worthy.

That noise is the ice freezing hard after the big thaw made it softer. It sounds bad but noisy ice is actually safer then quiet ice -- unless you count the sound you make when falling through quiet ice.

Yep, it's making ice. Silver was that way today, too. Very noisy and even uncomfortable at times.

Thanks for that information, it really bugged me when it sounded like it was right around me. I have been ice fishing a few times and haven't experienced that before.
