Another spectacular day on Lone Lake! I participated in coordinated floatilla of personal watercraft and fly rods that collectively yeilded literally hundreds of big, beautiful C&R'd rainbows. Nearly everyone on the water was catching fish. I hooked-up at least a dozen and missed many more - all in the 15-18" range. Best success was on bloodworm, chironomid and black leech patterns. The group arrived and started putting in the water around 8am and fished on and off until just before dark. It was frosty early and then warmed into the high-30s in the mid-day sun. There is ice developing around the southern perimeter of the lake. I measured surface temp of 40 degrees. A friendly reminder this is a selective gear lake, which makes it the awesome trout fishery that it is.
Happy New Year!
