I went against my better fish sense and took my good buddy Joe Cortez and headed out for an afternoon of trout fishing on the I-82 ponds. We arrived at pond #4 (the lake with the dock )and found that our favorite spot at the south end was frozen over with a thin sheen of ice. We passed a number of fellow anglers who had not caught a thing, Still we made the most of it and sat down for a relaxing afternoon plunking powerbait for rainbow trout.. We gave it our best shot, but the fishing was pretty dead, with nary a nibble between us. I figured that the high pressure ridge and clear blue bird skies had made the fish go into a non biting funk. On a haunch we stopped at Buena pond # 6 and just before dark, I kept my fish catching streak alive at 15 trips with at least one fish caught when an 9*'planter bow tried to swallow my chartruse power eggs. Joe took it in stride as any fish after a fruitless day on the water was a moral victory for us both.
