Launched at the Corps ramp on Sunday 12/26 at about 12:30 PM and made the run up to the lower pens (cold!). Caught two while up there, one while trolling a dark bead head wooly bugger and one jigging a black maribou jig, both fish around 3lbs. While up there we saw two other boats both trolling. When we pulled out at about 4:00 PM one of the boats we had seen at the pens pulled in and we discussed our catches and methods. This other group had 4 fish one at 16lbs and one at about 8lbs. They were trolling 4 inch black and bronze and black and silver Rapala's about 150 feet back from the boat. On Monday we launched again at Chief Joseph and fished the lower end of the lake. Caught two limits by about noon. 3 of the fish were in the 2 to 4 lb range and one (the wifes) at 6lb. We were trolling along the Douglas county side from the launch up past the spring. On this day we used home made tube baits with smiley blades tipped with night crawler behind kone zone flashers about 10 to 12 feet down off down riggers. This was the hot ticket for us on this day. Water temp was about 46 degrees and trolling speed was 1.7 to 2.0 MPH. As usual a great day at Rufus.
