Merry Fishmas fellow washingtonlakes.com members! Fished the lake for about 3 hours starting on the South end of Mercer Island. The water is still a bit stained in that area with visibility under 4 feet. Bait was minimal and I didn’t even have a takedown in the hour and a half that I fished the area. Ran up to the north side of the I-90 bridge, the water was much clearer in this area, gave it a go for about an hour with no luck. Worked my way over to the north tip of Mercer Island and found the bait. The one bait ball pictured produced my only fish of the day at 60’ down on the rigger, and I called it a day shortly thereafter. It rained pretty much my entire time out and the wind seemed to alternate between coming out of the southwest and the southeast. Santa was out wakeboarding and I’m sure he’ll be out again tomorrow. If anyone can contact him tell him to keep at least 100 yards from the floating bridges and to get off plane when navigating under the high rises.

That's either a very small plug or a very big cutt! Congrats! 4" plug = 24" fish Merry Christmas!

Mark - the mini cutplug is only 3" long so I estimate that the fish was in the 15" to 16" range.
Ganno - Look for some really chunky fish this coming spring/summer, the bait in the lake has really rebounded this year. It's a shame that one can't get the same consistent results working the bait in the Sound.
Snake - I'm thinking any of the larger fish that hadn't headed upstream to spawn prior to the last couple of weeks of rain has done so now. I can only imagine what it would be like to fish the Cedar River if it was open for cutts at this time.
