Stoked by the last 4 days of very cold temps I was headed out to Leland with my ICE FISHING gear and Vexilar anticipating some hard water fun only to find the lake did not even have any skim ice yet. I am just amazed it has not frozen over yet. So I grabbed my little ice rig and walked out to the public dock and dropped my newest color (Hot Pink/White) jig over the side and within 10 seconds I was hooked up with a very nice fish which fir a while I thought was a big bass as it kept wanting to dart under the dock. If you can imagine my little ice reel and rod with the drag just screaming and 2# test I am thinking any second now and it's gonna say goodby, but I managed to keep the fish from getting into anything that would chafe the line and just played it and finally it showed itself to be a real nice rainbow figure around 16". Well I played it until it just hung there and managed to lift it's head high enough for me to grab as I am sure it would have broke the line by trying to lift it completely out. I took it's photo just for you all and turned it back. Well so much for ice fishing, guess I am just going to have to head to E. Wa for that. Klahowya!
