I started off at 5am and had some car troubles and I was about to head back home, but decided to keep on going. Arrived at the lake at about 6am (had to drive real slow, usual travel time: 15 minutes). I got set up using powerbait and ----------- had a few bites that I either kept missing or the fish would just nibble at. I finally managed to land a 8inch rainbow that was lip hooked so I realesed it. On the next bite I resisted the temptation to set the hook when the rod tip was just bouncing slightly (lost a few more setting the hook too early) and waited until the rod tip was fairly bent to set the hook. The fish peeled off quite a bit of line as it made its run that followed a 10minute battle on 4lb. test line and was fortunate to land the 20inch brute. (It had a 12inch girth) I had no scale so i was unable to get a weight. (I have landed two more fish of similar size in the past month but not as big as this one.) I caught my limit by 11am and landed two 15inch+ sized trout that were a nice addition to my lunker. The bite was pretty hot and saw some guys fishing by boat (only other people out there) catching quite a few fair sized trout. Now is the time to head out to this lake for some great fishing before it closes on th the 31st. I took some pics but was unable to upload them just yet.
