This report is going to be a strictly informative report.

I stopped by Log Boom Park on the way home from work just to see what it was like since the last time I went in August.

It doesn't look like the same place to be honest.
The water level was Extremely LOW.
I have never seen it this low before.
Also, there were masses of dead weeds floating on the surface scattered around.
But I didn't see any actual weeds in the water still planted to the ground.
I saw a couple people fishing at the very end of the dock and they said they were fishing for trout but had no luck.

I knew I wasn't going to catch anything but I thought I would make a few casts just for the hell of it.

I casted a wacky rigged Yum Dinger under the dock to see if there were any bass.
There was nothing.

So then I put on my Spro Frog and made casts towards the shorline over the floating weeds and around logs.
There was nothing.

I then switched to a Strike King Pro Buzz Bait and casted all over.
There was nothing.

However, I did see one pretty big Sockeye Salmon swimming around the shoreline in very shallow water.
It circled around about 5 times going under the dock and under the weeds.
Just from the looks of it, it looked to be close to 20 inches or so.

Although I don't know much about Salmon, this was unmistakably a sockeye.
I could tell because it's body was a dark red with a big brownish head.

Also saw a Nutria this time, not a beaver :)

After about 20 minutes, I started to freeze my butt off even though I had put on 2 jackets.
So I decided to hit the road.

But the point of this report, just from my brief time there, and speaking with the people fishing there, it's time to call it a year for Log Boom Park.
The water level is too low, it's very shallow year round, and it's just too cold for the fish to want to hang around.

Yeah, man. I was there a little before peak time, the water was crystal clear and illuminated by the sun. Fish were all hiding somewhere other than Log Boom. I did manage a bite from a guppy sized fish, but it was too small to eat it and had a crawdad grab onto my bait after I dangled right in front of it. Other than that, nothing too. Saw a large carp go by along with a few sockeyes. A couple of dead ones were floating nearby.

Ya the edge of the marina off the park, looking east of the dock once you get half way down. That area has ALOT of crayfish and rocks! and i don't get why there wouldn't be Smallmouth there, but ALOT of Largemouth! Good to know Elijah! Hoping that the weather warms up rapidly by the end of this month so we can start catching bass, panfish, and catfish again of log boom park!
