We started fishing from our small livingston at about 6:30, the lake was already extremely packed with shore and boat fisherman. About one minute after launching the boat, I hooked and caught a nice triploid, about 1.5 lbs. 5 minutes later I caught another one. After that we caught several small ones and one more triploid which threw the hook, man was I heated. About ten we stopped getting fish, all we got was an occasional bite. This was all in trolling pop gear with a red needle fish. I've fished this lake for about three years now and found that the red needle fish and pop gear are definite fish catchers. Have never had luck on any other color. We also tried powerbait and had no luck. Last year I used powerbait from shore to the left of the dock and caught two triploids. Wasn't even going to try fishing from the shore this year way too many people. I have also used a wooly bugger and fly pole from kicking around in a float tube, did good did not find any pattern in the color of fly, I'd say green or dark red work. Sinking or floating line work, tried them both. The lake is a very productive opener if you use the right thing. I have caught all my fish right in front of the dock and towards the central western middle part of the lake in the middle or about 100 feet from shore. Good lake if you are willing to brave and maneuver the many people. Watch for the game wardens, this is the first year I've seen them at the lake, they stuck me with a 66 dollar ticket for no life vest, be prepared. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
