Well been doing some more R&D and tested out my new spreader designed for catching Perch and Crappie at the same time... Works! What a nasty day it was, wet, windy and fairly dark, just perfect for a Crappie bite. I pretty much had the lake to myself except for one other party which I turned onto Dons Dandy Crappie Jig, hope they caught some. Well the spreader was designed for a long leader jig for Perch off the bottom and higher up about 4' higher is the Crappie jig but it has an angle for drift speed that you won't find on any other spreader. I have to say I am just delighted it works so well. The Crappie did their part, the Perch were slow but they were there with their signature bite.. I caught many fish but brought home 3 nice 10" and one nice Perch. Beat sitting at home waiting for a nice day. Klahowya!

Hey I am following your reports too, and good job getting to know lake Union. I believe once you get those buggers figured out, your the one who is going to be pulling up slabs... There are some really nice Crappie in Union, they are just a little harder to get at, but I think if you keep at em especially this time of year you will prevail. I love to Google up Crappie videos, I have learned a lot from watching others techniques and have put some in play on occasion when things were slow, sometimes something different just works. I am thinking about bringing some waxies next visit and checking out the timber pilings down in the SE corner, I have always graphed good schools just off there. Well my friend to many happy hours fishing. Klahowya!
