Went up to Sullivan late last night to do a couple hours fishing this morning then close up the cabin for the winter. Family own's one of the cabins at the NE corner of the lake that you have to walk or boat into. We got at our parking spot at 9:30pm and it is pitch black out. We grabbed our flashlights, bag's and I also grabbed the .45 since our neighbors have been seeing cougars up there the last few years.

We head out on the trail which is about a half mile hike on a narrow trail. We hear this goose honking and flying back and forth on the edge of the lake as we're walking in thinking it was pretty weird that it was doing this. We get to the cabin and I start making a fire and my BIL goes outside to get wood for the fire and theres the goose at the backdoor of the cabin. He shoos it off and comes back thinking it took off. We get curious about 15 minutes later and go outside there it is, we ended up being able to walk up to it and pick it up. It started flapping its wings so I tossed it up in the air so it would fly off. It went to the edge of the lake and landed. We went back inside and waited a bit and looked out again and it had walked back up to the cabin. Well we went outside and I picked it up once more BIL snapped a pic with my cell phone (didn't turn out so well but i'll try and post) I then walked out of the trees to the edge of the lake and threw the goose into the air again and this time it flew off. We thought this was the last of it but this morning when we went to get the fishing gear out of the car it was over there and was still there when we left around 2 this afternoon. Thought this was pretty crazy! Anyone else ever have this happen?

Anyways to the fishing. We fished for a couple hours and only got a couple bites. This is the first time i've been skunked on Sullivan lake but then again I haven't been up there in two years. Hopefully i'll get up there more next year.

I've seen injured geese do this.

This goose has been raised by someone on the lake, probably kids stole the egg off the nest and when it hatched out it bonds with the humans in close proximity. We had a pet Canada some years ago and it eventually went back to it's flock but it kept coming back every year to visit us and nest in the same spot it's mother used, which was not where it hatched out strange enough. I am afraid the ways of Geese and Men are still not fully known! It sounds to me like it has adopted your lakefront property for now and will likely move on when it gets cold enough or end up on someones table for dinner. One thing is for sure, the greatest show on earth is not on TV, it's in the out of doors and you have experienced something that few humans will ever get the chance to! Neat post, thanks for sharing!
