Took a friend from work on his first bass trip hoping for some smallie action. It was raining steady and the wind was out of the south anywhere from 5-10mph with water temps in the mid to upper 60's. We started in the piling field just south of Bloedel/Donovan launch and he lost one on a spinnerbait. We continued all the way down to the rock hump on the west side with only 2 dink smallie and a decent cutt to show for it. We were alternating between spinnerbaits, crawfish colored cranks and green and brown yamamoto grubs.

I decided to head to the east shore to try more docks and some of the pilings on the depth breaks with a little more wind on them. This produced more dinks. I moved us north to fish the shoreline area that the wind was blowing directly on, this was the better move, as we were hitting dinks almost every cast with a 1-1.5lber mixed in....when it's pooring rain and cold, any action is good action lol.

I had the boat in 7-8 feet casting shallow to the docks but eventually moved out over 20 feet and fished the break from 6-18 feet, and after switching to a perch colored Shad Rap, this produced a 2 and 2.5lb smallie on back to back casts. Peppered the area with a few more small fish to show for it before heading for some lunch and a different lake.

I have a couple pics, but I am at work and do not have access to posting them right now.
