Second year of what is now an annual trip. Mardon is AWESOME.... Arrived Friday morning and stayed through Tuesday. Lake was not as low as last year, water temp was higher 65ish. Mostly sunny through Monday eve.
I'm a catch and release BASS hunter, 30 years of practice and still learnin new tricks.
Goose Island was productive every day, nothing over a pound and mostly small mouth.
6" Pumkin with blue flake and Chartruse salt worms did the best. Split shot 16" from the hook, casting to the rocks and workin it all the way to the mud.... FUN FUN but nothin bigger than a pound.
Crank baits along the rock damn, 4" divers, jerk n reel, landed a couple a nice small mouth.
Spinners and Salt worms by the state public launch, again lots a fun but nothing to brag about.
Jigged for perch at the dock and landed plenty, 4' ultra light, 4lb test, multi colored feather jigs.

I saw a few, very few really nice fish, local anglers, who've mastered the tricks nad honed their skills.

All in all, FANTASTIC trip, fishing, friends, food, and frolic..... my favorite 4 f's...

Mardon Dock Tourney this weekend. Three days of Fishing, drinking and friends. Hope the bite is on, last year it was slow until sunday. Thanks for the report, I was thinking about tying up some of my own jigs... you just sealed that deal.

bazzdude... I heard a couple a guys say they hit the seeps early morning and late evening... top water morning... worm n grubs evening.... I saw one dude pull a 3 lb small mouth out of his livewell... nice fish... Good Luck....
Big Smooth..... I wanted to do the Dock Tourney but other plans trumped it.... I was kickin butt with some simple hand tied crappie jigs...
Gave a all the kids on the dock a jig so they could strat dancin em in.... redhead white eye with white n yellow feather was the KILLER... but my all black head red eye with yellow feather worked good too... No body was landing much with worms..... GOOD LUCK.....
