Some friends and myself went fishing/camping at Pearrygin State Park for the weekend. Went out trolling fri/sat/sun at various times the best being evening. We caught about 30-40, 6-8in trout which was fun a first but that soon wore off. We did manage to get 5 12-13 inchers in the boat.
For the last outing I devised a plan to go as deep as I could manage and ended up using a 8 oz. banana weight with a dodger and small rapala trout trailing. While trolling I thought how nice it would be to get a big fish in the boat and right then the pole almost bent to the side of the boat. After a good fight I had the fish tired out and went to grab the net and found that it wasn't in the boat. Being the educated fisherman that I am not I went to sling the fish in the boat but only managed to release him mid air within inches of my face. My guess would be he was about 18 inches and was football shaped. I got back and couldn't even drown my sorrows in beer cause the last 3 nights had taken there toll.
We also set out crawdad traps and found the best bait was fish heads and guts. I also waded for them and caught some nice sized ones, the biggest being 8 inches from nose to tail.
