I went to Chain Lake today arrived 1:45pm and fished until 8:45pm. Well, when I arrived it was mostly sunny but windy...not good for top water fishing I like to do. It was very slow going due to wind and even getting blown with wind couldn't land a bass on spinnerbait, diving rapala or top water rapala for first 2 hours. I did get a few hits and lost 2 that were on the line...as my fishing buddy says if it doesn't make it in the boat it doesn't count. So it was looking like a skunk day and I was fishing part of lake that I don't usually have much luck...but was trying to avoid the wind. I anchored some and fished some. Finally put on rat l trap larger one and 2nd cast fish on 8" bass. Then worked my way down the side of lake I usually fish and got some more top water bites out deep. Seems like the fish were hidding out deeper behind logs to buffet the wind.
Wind finally died down about 5pm and got calm 7pm on. I ended up getting quite a few fish on top water rapala in perch. Most were either caught on top or swimming lure back. I also landed 4 or 5 on rat l trap. Not a bad day after I stuck it out and got the rid of the wind.
I ended up landing 24 Bass 11.25", 10" being largest rest 8" or less and one bluegill 5-6".
Water seemed a little cooler then last time I fished Chain Lake earlier in the month and saw some fish jumping towards middle probably trout.
All fish Catch and Released.
