Been lurking on this board for awhile but these last few trips has left me wanting to share!

What an incredible trip to Lake Desire yesterday. I have fished this lake all year, with it producing limits in trout regularly up until a few weeks ago. All the trout I had caught were nice size, all the way up to 4 lbs! Since the trout bite had cooled off I decided I would try out bass fishing for the first time. I knew that Desire had some perfect cover/habitat for some monters...so why not give it a shot? Well after reading report after report about people catching bass with Senkos on other lakes I thought I would give it a try myself. While I was down in Lacey for work I stopped off at Cabelas and grabbed a some 5'' prosenkos. I headed home to read up on how to rig these bad boys up and what hooks to use etc. After a couple videos I was feeling confident in my setup so I headed out to the lake with my buddy DC. Well we put the boat in and headed for my secret spot on the lake. There is always trout and my fish finder had marked some pretty big fish by some of the lilly pad fields. We head over and I cast it over a couple times not really having much luck. That is when I decided to try something different...senko with a bobber. I had never heard much of this technique but I had heard the bass like the way the worm looks suspended in the water as it falls...which is what provided most of their strikes. So on goes the clip on old school bobber and I cast out....two seconds later...WHAM the bobber shoots under the water and takes off towards the lillypads. This was no perch! I quickly set the hook and started to fight whatever it was when out jumps a NICE largemouth two feet out of the water! I fought him for another minute or so and after another huge jump and a couple big runs he settles down and makes his way in nicely. 4.5 lbs with a big ol belly. A few minutes later on the other pole I had out (love that new 2nd pole rule) I got a big hit on the powerbait. As I was reeling in he took off and being that I had almost no line on that reel it busted off and I lost a BIG trout. Well I put a new set up on and within two minutes BAM 1.5 lb trout. Few minutes later BOOM another trout on the powerbait! Next I took off the bobber and we headed to a new spot...if the bass didnt hit it on the way down they hit it when you raised the rod tip 6 inches. Wow. 3 more largemouth all between 1 and 3 lbs. Gary Yamamoto, you have a new customer for life. This lake loves me, Its been a great year for fishing, got my first bass and steelhead this year both! All fish were released unharmed to catch again!

After reading the other reports for this lake I just have to say, wow...head to the other side guys. If you want to catch fish on this lake you need to get a boat and a fish finder...you won't miss once you start marking the fish, and there seems to be plenty to go around still.

Great report!! I might have drive down and try this lake. Yamamoto lures are the best lures. That's all I use to catch most of my LMB. You also told me a new technique using the senkos! Thanks for the report!!
