Couldn’t resist the chance to give the lake a try after getting back from a weekend family trip. Had my line in the water around 3:30pm on the North side of the 520 bridge. The conditions were great with light winds out of the North, partly sunny skies hardly any boat traffic and zero car traffic on the bridge. I found a ton of fish near midspan so I put my mini UV hootchie tipped with herring down around 70’ and had a strike in fairly short order. This fish ran on my quite a bit and I was beginning to wonder if I had hooked into a silver or chinook headed for Lake Sammamish. I did manage to finally get it to the boat and it turned out to be a nice sized buck sockeye that had already started to turn red and had a fairly good hook nose going. The fish was quickly released and it headed straight down so I’m hopeful that it’s ordeal wasn’t life threatening. I re-rigged the hoochie, put it down again and trolled a bit further out from the bridge which yielded another fish a short while later. This turned out to be an 18” cutt and it also came at 70’ down. She got the wood shampoo and is now getting the dry cure as well. That was it for fish to the boat for the rest of my time out on the lake. I switched up my lures and had a take on a 3” pearl Apex and one on a mini B2 squid behind a wiggle fin action disk. Called it a day around 6:30pm and headed back to the empty launch on very calm waters. If you never have seen the 520 bridge open, here is what it looks like. I was very tempted to troll through the opening but though better of it.

Nice report as usual ... And I had to LOL!!! It would be very tempting to troll right on through the opening!!! I'm sure the "Bridge Tenders" wouldn't be too pleased.

Hey G...I liked the "wood shampoo!" That picture of the bridge will be a very rare one to have indeed. Thanks for the report and look forward to getting up to your neck of the woods soon!

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good time with that first fish. I'm bummed that I have not been able to put in enough time on this lake this summer. I have to live vicariously through your posts.

I have to give credit to another walakes member for the term "wood shampoo", can't remember who it was though. I wonder if the "new" bridge will be designed to open in the middle as well? I don't think it has been used for boat traffic for quite some time, just for strain relief due to high winds.
Quad - I'm fortunate in that the launch is only about 3 miles from the house, the convenience factor plays a big part in how often I get out on the Lake.

Living in Kirkland i so should fish this lake more often. Very tough launch by yourself if you launch at kirkland as there is no easy way to tie off. Good report.

Sickbayer, use the public launch in Bothell. With your sled you should have no issues and it's free!
