Left the launch out of Mercer Island later than I had hoped. Headed towards the south end of Mercer Island. About half-way down I set up with a 0000 dodger and an apex lure, thought I'd try the G-man approach.. thx gman.. so line in the water by probably 9:30 ish and trolled about .7 - 1.3 mph ran into a giant ball of floating weeds that I had to remove. hooked into a trout about 13 inches that self released at the boat. I'm pretty sure it was a Kokanee by shape and color. then a bit farther south within a half hour I got another take down and to my surprise it was a smb. pics of the bass attached.. released promptly

all In all I wasnt out long and I wanted to get in before all the sea-fair madness..

Brave man to venture out on Lake Washington during Hydro Race weekend!
FYI - I have been trying to bag cutts South of the I-90 high rise in the East Channel for a few years now and fond it to be spotty at best. One you get South of Seahawks Headquarters and into the deeper water it picks up dramatically. What you need to watch out for is the sunken forest off the East Side of Mercer which extends South from the park you are at in the pic to just around the tip of the island. The fishing in the "forest" can be great, just keep in mind that the top of the trees are about 15' to 20' below the surface.

haha yea I was very reluctant to go out because of the events going on. I've been out a few times just this last winter with no success.. so I was happy to get what little action I had. thanks for the info
