Back on the water and hit up Liberty for a few hours yesterday (Monday) from 5pm till dark. The trout really seemed to like the dropshot along with other smaller fish near the weedlines.
Towards the later part of the afternoon, ended up boating 2 largemouths and 1 smallmouth throwing a deep diving crankbait in about a 30 minute time frame.
Switched to topwater action and had a decent fish on for a few seconds but came unpinned.
The adage of waiting until you feel the pressure of the fish before setting the hook still holds true. I think time actually stops between when you actually see the swirl and the tension is felt on the line, can be measured with a calendar at that point.
A note to boaters:
Found some submerged boulders on the furthest east part of the lake about 400-500 yds off shore from the northern and eastern shoreline. There are about 3 very large rocks about 1 foot under the water and if you look at the bank as an arc, they are located in what would be the center of that curve. I know I've ran through there several times over the past year but these are definitely lower unit grabbers so if you have GPS, I'd suggest going out and marking them.
