Floated the portabote on Lake Stevens for the first time. Started about 6:45. Took a while, but my partner eventually hooked what appeared to be a kokanee, our target fish. But I was slow with getting the net out, and the fish came unbuttoned at the side of the boat. :( We caught no more kokes, but she caught a small rainbow trout, and 2 perch. I ended up with 3 rainbows, and one perch. Got a great fight from a 15 inch rainbow, pictured, but the other 2 were only 9 inches.
We trolled pop gear and red "kokanne killer" wedding rings with a small chunk of worm and a kernel of corn on the hook. We had little control over fishing depth with no downriggers. Weather was nicely over cast, with a some wind at times. The weather seems to have kept the ski boats off the water for a while. A few other boats out angling and several still fishers sitting on the dock. Water temp was about 72 degrees. Got most of our action in the south east corner of the lake.
