Today was a 50/50 day. 50/50, not all bad not all good..
I got up to the alarm and made it to American Lake (6am) before Kokanee Kid. I launched, parked my vehicle, went back to my vessel, stepped to the back of the boat and found water coming in. There was even a small amount of current there. I went back to get the trailer and loaded up.
I texted The Kid to say I had a problem and was leaving. He called me back, asking me aboard the ride he was going in. The Fish Whisperer Hewes. Oh, what a nice rig.
The Kid got the first fish and biggest. After that I was in trouble. The Kid was verbally abusive when I wasn’t catching as many fish or as fast as him. But on the other hand he took his rod out of the water so I could catch up. All the time asking me what was wrong with me. I stink!
I did get to leave with my limit of big (bigger than Clear Lake) kokanee and with a truly grateful heart for The Kid and the Fish Whisperer who picked up a stranded boater. Every one got limits. We weren’t the only ones getting fish.
I used all sorts of lures with a Bahama Mama. Not one out producing another.
I came home and found that there was a large crack at the back of the boat and 2 other small ones toward the front. I give thanks to my son Bo for finding them. Now comes the end of my 4 day weekend...fixing holes!
