It was a beautiful morning for fishing, My buddy and I headed out to the south side of the cut across from the boathouse for a relaxing day off. Well, as soon as I got setup, my buddy already had a fish on a minute after his first cast. It was a 18-20 inch pike minnow?". The day heated up a bit and the perch had a feast on our worms. The biggest perch caught was in the range of 11-12 inches. all together we caught and released 10 keepers 4 little ones, 2 pike minnows (i think) and the one small mouth from 10am-2pm. The feel good story of the day for me was a family with 2 little girls from Italy visiting Seattle, the girls said they never touched a live fish before nor have they seen one caught (through an interpreter).......then BAM! fish on! It put up a great fight for the little ladies and as you can see in the pic they were all over it! After a few burgers and links we called it a day when the pedestrian traffic started to pick up a bit along with the traffic through the cut. All in all, we had a great day.

The second pic is what i believe to be a Pike Minnow or Squawfish. It only had one dorsal fin set back pretty far on top.

With the corner of the mouth extending to just under the eye.

if you catch squawfish... kill them, please don't send them back into the water!

nice report and nice pics! that's one huge squawfish! and they're considered a nuisance fish because they eat all the eggs and fry of the gamefish. they actually pay you to catch and kill them in certain states and do so in the columbia river. would you mind if i asked you where exactly this place is that you're fishing? i haven't fished very many spots on lake wa but i would like to give this spot a try :P
