Hit the lake in the fog just before 9:00 am. Fished the northwest corner first and came up with a few dink smallmouths. Headed to the south side of snag island and started working the snag field on the east shore. Had several bites but nothing on topwater baits. Switched to a Cotton-Cordell lipless crank bait in silver/black color. Just as the sun started to pop out around 11:00am I hit my first largemouth on Tapps! Caught the LM right up near shore under some overhanging trees and in the shade. I had heard of others catching them but have never seen one in all our time fishing here. Wasn't huge only about 1lb but put up a great fight and was a real surprise. I sure hope their numbers increase here. Friends with me caught several SM throughout the day most under a pound but it was fun. The biggest surprise was the tiger muskie that came out of nowhere like a bullet and pounded the lipless crankbait almost right at the boat. Dang! it startled the crap out of me! I never saw it coming. Our fist muskie of the year here on our 4th trip to the lake. Caught a few more SM and called it a day at around 3:00pm.
