Got out to Buck at around 6pm and blew up the float tube for some quality time on the water. No one was there for a friday night except a couple of swimmers at the park. Water was warm but didn't think to take reading. With the sun going down over the tree line I headed straght into the lilypads on the south end tossing a spinner. Within a couple of casts I landed two dink bass and put them straight back. Kicked around to some bigger fish waters that I know of, I tossed the spinner and various plastics for nothing. Got to the old beaver dam on the Northeast side of the lake and couldn't keep them off the spinner and 3" cuttail dropshot. Nothing landed over 3lbs. but caught a dozen or more and lost 3. Once the light started to dim I headed straight across the middle of the lake back towared the launch. Coming across the deep part of the lake at about 22ft I began meatering tons of fish all over the water column. Saw a nice trout surfacing for some bugs and chased it down. Tossed a panther martin trout color spinner and once it hit the water and I began to reel it in I got a moster strike. After playing this fish for a good minute, I hauled it in and it was a beautiful 14" trout with an amazing dark color. Definitely a holdover. Finished the night kicking across and tossing the panther martin for nothing, but my fish finder would not stop bleeping the whole way. Tons of fish in the 22 to 10ft range. Once I came in under 10ft I saw nothing. Activity was picking up on the water surface with the big moon overhead but I was done. Saw tons of fish and caught some dink bass with a nice trout kicker, but couldn't muster up a hawg. Buck will have to wait tell the next time. I really think this lake is on the down cycle for quality fish but has a ton of smaller ones. Come 4-5years this lake will be producing some big bass.
