Perch were biting just off bottom in south end of lake. No monsters but # made up for it, think the larger ones were maybe 10-10 1/2 inches.
This lake has a gazillion perch and the big bass don't seem to be as prominent as in years past. I did catch 3 LMBs maybe 8-10 inches long.

Ya managed two fish fries already :-) The bluegills in pic swallowed the hook so I kept them. I let several bluegill go that were lip hooked and all the bass went back except for one that took in the hook too deep (was maybe 9-10 inches long).
This lake used to have some real big LMBs but I think someone must have decided to keep many of them possibly. I don't catch them any more. I used to hook them occassionally incidentally while fishing for perch.
The problem is, without those big predator bass the perch overpopulate and start to stunt their growth in a couple years.
So just my opinion but I suggest everyone let the LMBs go in this lake and KEEP every perch you catch! :-) That way the perch are big enough to be worthwhile to eat.

how are the weeds at the boat launch? One of the old reports stated that the weeds are thick and it would be hard to go through it with a float tube. I wanna help thin out the population of perch too!!!

They have been treating the lake with Rodeo I think so submerged weed growth is not a big deal. Because of that, I am guessing the boat launch area is mostly weed free. I launched from the park area in float tube. Yep get out there and get some perch! Use 'em for the compost bin if you don't want a fish fry or something LOL. Although I like them beer battered with a light tartar sauce using dill pickle juice as a key ingredient. If you are in float tube, you might consider carrying it thru the park to launch into the main southern end. If you launch from the boat launch area (north end), it gets real shallow in one spot but should be navigable with the treatments they've made to get rid of the milfoil and other vegetation. That weed kill probably puts a damper on food for fish (aquatic insects like plants) too though so may hit the growth chances of fish in the lake for next couple years.

Sorry for getting back to you late. Ya take Weyerhauser way exit off I-18 and head south. You don't have to go very far before a hard right curve in the road (almost 90 degrees). At that curve, you'll see a church on the right and the park will be on the left. There's a trail at the park that wil llead you all the way to the main south body of water. I just pack my float tube in that way. have fun!
