This actually is more of a report about my wife's success Sockeye Fishing at Lake Wenatchee. We camped with our son, best friend, and his girlfriend at the State Park on Sunday Night.

High winds prevented us from launching our 12 foot boat on Sunday Afternoon. Things were not much better on Monday Morning at 5:30 so I drove up lake to the launch at the Glacier View N.F. Campground. Boats big and small were launching here for the price of $4. This is definitely the place to go, as you are closer to the prime area to fish (the NW end near the old Cougar Inn) and it is less windy here.

I got back to camp but unfortunately, had problems rousing my camp mates. At 9 AM, after breakfast, My wife, my friend and his girlfriend finally launched at the Glacier View Campground.

Boats I saw launch at 6 AM were coming back in with limits of sockeye from 3 to 5 pounds. Dodgers followed by a short leader and a red barbless hook or two did the trick for them, mainly below downriggers (though some caught fish using divers and banana weights too).

My son and I went hiking up to Hidden Lake. Cominng back at 11 AM, we saw the returning boats had far fewer fish, and some anglers were skunked. My wife did catch a nice 5 pd buck while my friend drove the boat. His girlfriend had two takedowns but she couldn't land any fish.

Unfortunately, yours truly didn't get a chance to fish (yes...it did break my heart, but it is on the mend thank you). On the bright side, we did get to have some great tasting sockeye for dinner!
