We fished Lake Wapato and the surrounding little lakes for three days. I like fishing Lake Wapato the second week of the season, early May, because of the hot weather encountered this time of the year, June. Although the trout were still biting quite well this trip. Easy limits were had of good 10" to 12" fish trolling in the middle of the lake, fairly deep, bouncing my 0000 dodger and worm off of the bottom very slowly. Since we already had fish in the freezer from the Lake Williams opener, catch and release was the name of the game. An added bonus for fishing this late in the season was the tremendous number of perch that were caught and released at the head of the lake near the resort and surrounding cattails on bobber and worm drifting where the wind pushed me. The perch, sunfish, and occasional baby bass were on the small side but the action was non stop and usually non fatal for the mostly lip caught fish. I've fished this lake every year for the last seven years!
and I don't recall ever being disappointed. At night we sometimes camp in the surrounding hills, one of two nice resorts, or park our $200 camper/truck in the parking lot of the local Mill Bay Casino for free. The casino satisfies our need for a variety of fun activities in the area. Night time fishing at nearby Dry or Roses lake netted us some smaller catfish and such. This is a wonderful area and worth the trip every time!

Semper Fisherman!
