I only report this to pay homage to my brother in law who boated 9 Kokes and a lake trout. Biggest Koke was 16" (3 or 4 of theese). Most were 14". Trout was 17-18".
I boated a 5" catfish. Same bait, color, technique.

We fished from 10:00pm till 3:00. It started kind of slow. two fish the first hour. then it turned on. with a fish every 15 minutes to 10 minutes ending with two fish caught five minutes apart. Had I have been helping, we would have had great totals. At about 1:00 we moved locations having on ly caught 2 fish in the last hour. So we moved to theother side and picked up another in the first 15 minutes. Then it died down. We left, my brother in law a hero, myself, only good as a net man. I only missed one.

This is my second trip out this year. I'm 0 for 1000 so far.
I appreciate all the reports. you guys are doing something right. Keep up the good work.

Sounds like my first two trips out....I felt as though I was just along for the ride. They're maddening devils at times! Personally, I'd encourage anyone who never fished for these light biters to give it a try.

Keep your head up...there's always next time. Hopefully, you can manage to fit one more fishing night in this summer or you have until next year to think about it....i'm just saying

Jigging for kokanee at night can be a real art requiring a lot of finesse at times especially when the fish are not on an aggressive bite. As long as you are marking fish hugging the bottom on the sonar, you can be confident that those fish are a school of kokanee and it's then a matter of presenting the jig the way they want it to trigger a bite. I have never caught a kokanee when my glow hook is bare and when I'm holding my rod still for prolonged periods, so always make sure you have bait on (maggots or corn) and keep that jig moving, especially when the sonar shows a large school of fish directly under the boat. I hope you have better luck the next time out and make your brother-in-law net your fish instead!

I used to have trouble with the lite bite as well. I had better success once I upgraded to a graphite rod with good sensitivity and started using some 8lb fireline. A little bit of scent applied to your corn can help as well. It attracts more bites and I think they hold on to it a fraction of a second longer. I think the fireline made a world of difference for me in detecting the bite over monofilament. I hope that helps. Good luck out there!
