Me thinks I am cursed. And worse yet, it appears to be contagious! Took advantage of an absolutely beautiful spring day to soak some worms at Meadow Lake for some crappie, bluegill or bass. I took my five year old son along, thinking that there was going to be some fast action.

The action was not fast. Soon enough, my son was asking if we could throw rocks in the lake instead of bobbers with fishing line attached to them. I started experimenting. Crappie jigs, small weedless bass jigs thrown at the edges of the brush covered shoreline, long casts with nightcrawlers off the bottom for carp.................nothing worked.

I followed my son on his bicycle. It wasn't hard.......he's still on training wheels. We started interviewing the four other anglers on the lake, two of whom had just returned in a boat. They all reported the same results as us.

I'm getting worried. The season is definitely not starting off well. Tomorrow - Lake Lenore and hopefully, a bunch of Lahontan Cutthroat:)
