We tried to go into the section of the lake the farthest from the boat launch, but the water is the lowest I have seen for this date in years. It is funny, Lake Creek is still flowing, which I have never seen this time of year, but the water is still so low that the passage to the farthest lake is less then 6" deep.
I and my Son decided to pester the trout in the main lake instead, and sure enough, they were hungry. My locater showed the fish at 25 to 30 feet deep, with 28.5 feet the sure bet. We caught, and released, several in the 20 to 24" range. About half were non fin clipped, large mouth, lots of teeth, with an intense red side band (natural spawn fish). About half were fin clipped, small mouth, few teeth, lesser red side band (stalkers).
We did hit a few Bass, but trout were the fish of the day. The water surface temp was 65 degrees at 0800. The plankton bloom is on-going, but less then on warm years. I am guessing that the water level is about 3' down from full pool.
