Headed out to Log Boom Park today after reading a report about it yesterday.
I fished here a lot last year and after reading a report about it I thought I would head out there today.
I'll just start off by saying this.
Fishing today was OFF THE HOOK!! ;)
Just a couple weeks ago I finally bought a Berkley Digital Scale so now I know just how much my fish weigh!
I also bought a 5 foot, 2 piece Ugly Stick Ultra Light Combo which makes catching any fish fun! :)
But anyways, to the good stuff!
I started off skipping under the dock with a creature bait on a 2/0 Hook and BAM! First cast, First Fish, First Largie :)
It weighed in at just 10 ounces but put up a good fight for it's size!
I snapped a pic and tossed it back in.
I make my second cast skipping under the dock and hook into another largie!
This time it was a better fish!
It weighed in at 1 lb 7 ounces.
Not a big one but it felt pretty big and put up a good fight.
Anyways, after I caught those 2 largies, I satisfied my bass fix and decided to go after panfish.
I was just using a bobber and worm and adjusting the length of the leader depending on where I was fishing.
I caught countless pumpkinseed sunfish, yellow perch, and annoying sculpin.
But here it the best part!
Out of the 50 + times I fished here last summer, I have never seen anyone catch a Black Crappie OR a Brown Bullhead Catfish.
But I caught BOTH today!!
I totally had a blast out there today!
I was constantly catching fish and some people were being babies about it and making snotty remarks towards me.
This is extremely cliche to say but don't hate the player, hate the game!
Everyone kept asking me what I was using and what I was doing that they weren't.
I have a few tricks up my sleeve but I'm not gonna give that out to everyone obviously so I just told them I don't know haha..
Anyways, since I can only upload 2 photos I put combined 2 pictures per file so I can show 4 fish!
Enjoy!
I measured the length from the tip of my middle finger to the edge of my wrist and it's 8 inches.
So the Pumpkinseed pictured was about 7 inches long.
The Black Crappie pictured was a bit bigger and pushing at least 9 inches.
The Brown Bullhead Catfish had a HUGE belly on it, either it was just extremely fat or pregnant. You can't see it that well from the angle of the picture but it looked like she swallowed a peach. She weighed in at 11 ounces.
I highly suggest you get out here and fish ASAP because pretty soon there may not be many fish left to catch!
I released all of my fish today except the Black Crappie because this asian family pleaded with me to let them have it.
I was shocked and disgusted when they opened their cooler and it was filled with TINY pumpkinseeds, I'm talking 1 - 3 inches.
Why even bother taking those?
It's not worth the pain of cleaning something that small to eat it!
Also, I have never seen SO MANY people fishing here before.
The whole dock was pretty much covered with people fishing.
And pretty much ALL of them were taking everything they caught!
I was extremely disappointed that I was pretty much the only person catching and releasing!!
