So I had some time tonight to head out to Wards lake to do a little bit of fishing.
We headed out there at about 6 pm.
I brought my sister in law's little sister who is only 7 years old.
She's been wanting to go fishing so I took her out for a couple hours tonight.
I chose Wards because it's a good place to easily catch pumpkinseeds.
Basically from the very start, I got her into the action right away and it was pretty constant.
Just used the trusty old bobber and worm technique with small size 8 hook.
Seeing a child's face light up with excitement from catching fish is a gift.
So take a kid fishing!
Anyways, she caught probably 15 + pumpkinseeds in less than 30 minutes.
We then moved from the front of the park to the side hole and this is where it got interesting.
I baited her hook and casted out for her and handed her the pole.
I saw a couple of bass bedding very close to shore and I decided that I would rig up my pole to see if I could catch them.
Before I even have the chance to do so, she screams and says I GOT A BIG ONE!!
My initial reaction was to think that she was exaggerating but she wasn't.
She caught a 9 inch largemouth!
She was super excited and I told her to hold it up to take a picture but she refused.
For some reason she was being camera shy and didn't want to hold the fish either.
So I took a picture of the fish for her and let it go.
Funny thing is, the weather was cloudy all day, it even got kind of windy.
But right as she caught the fish there was like a 5 minute window of sunshine.
I told her that the sun was shining for her lol :)
