I got tired of getting skunked at Sawyer, so I decided to hit up American instead. At least I know I'll be able to land something, even though if it's only RockBass.

And boy did I get those RockBass, lol. Lots of them. Pretty much everywhere. I was looking and targeting SMB. I did find a few small ones. Very small. They werent big enough to mouth my 1/0 hook with a 4" senko.

But I would get bites/nibbles pretty much anywhere. They were just too small. They would follow all the way up to the boat. Had perch follow, small trouts.

I did have 2 big trouts follow down the south end. 1 was chasing my senko. Had to be close to 20". The other was about 16" and was chasing my curly tail grub. Nipped at the tail, but couldnt connecdt.

Eventually I tried something different to me. I wacky rigged a senko, weightless and started tossing them at a few docks. Got more nibbles from small fish, but cant find the big ones. I had several large splashes around me. Tried to fish around them but no bites there.

I threw shallow running x-raps, med x-raps, lipless cranks. Nothing on those. I found a small school of baby fishes. About 2" long running and jumping around. Thinking something big was chasing them, but couldnt get anything around them.

Oh well, still was fun catching something.

nice report! american is definitely a fun lake to fish! I had some decent luck with the smallies. I only started catching them when i started using small soft plastics than what i use to go after largemouth. i've seen some huge trout chase my lure as well without striking. but yeah, caught a ton of rockbass and perch each time i went for smallies. keep it up!
