After much discussion I met up with MotoBoat/ i.e. Wayne for some fishing at Riffe lake. We headed down to target the landlock coho which have been reported on a lot lately. We started of launching from the park and launch near the dam. We sped directly across to the opposite side. I trolled a variation on a wedding ring behind a 4/0 flasher. He fished a combination of what i think was Berkley Power worms? behind a 4/0 flasher. Also he fished I think what is called a Triple Teaser, little brass looking fish behind a flasher. He had a lot of success with just dragging a chrome flasher behind the boat with a small egg sinker for weight, sometimes on this setup he had just power bait on a hook or maybe power worms and bait. We both fished downriggers also, catching fish in at depths of 7'- 20' I think. When ever I went down to 30-40' I had no fish. After a couple miles down the lake we swiched to the Southern side of the lake. Caught the majority of fish along here at only about 7-8' depth on the d.r.'s There were about 4-5 other boats out. also said they had fish in the boat. We left with 8 coho between us. Mostly 13-16" I think. One of the fish was quite airodynamic, leaping many times before coming to the boat. A few more were lost on the self release, and a few more were tossed back to grow. Our first time to this lake, so kind of learning it as we go. It is a pretty decent fishery I think, not off the charts, you had to work for the fish, but they were defenitely there for patient angler.
Sunny, rainy, Thunderstormy, windy, not windy.
