Winter Mackinaw fishing on Lake Chelan is going great. We have been getting good numbers and the occasional big fish to make it a lot of fun. We have been using the classical pattern of trolling U-20 luminous chartreuse flatfish within 5 feet of the bottom at 1.2 knots on my indicator in 120' to 150' of water early and then moving into over 200' of water late to consistently put fish in the boat. The winter has been relatively mild so far which makes my job on the back of the boat much easier.
We have also caught those jumbo kokanee and triploid rainbow near Chief Joseph Dam on Rufus Woods Reservoir. Pull baited tandem flies 20" behind flashers and dodgers from 5' to 20' deep near the "deadline" of Chief Joseph dam for this spectacular winter fishery.
