Hit the lake with Elijah.Loves.Fishin and his buddy (sorry dude, please post your name if you see this). If you get a chance to fish with the guys...do it. They are pretty cool and laid back. I had a great time fellas.

Anyway, the guys had never fished hard for crappies before so we hooked up for a day of chasing slabs. Launched the old yellow beast around 4:30 and were hooking crappies 10 mins later. Fished a few of my fav honeyholes before hitting the motherload on my favorite wood covered flat. We nailed them pretty hard with tons of fish hooked. Fish were coming on back to back cast at times. Most of the males where up shallow sweeping beds and waiting for the females in 3' water no more than 4 feet off the bank. The females seemed to be holding in 7-9' of water about 20 feet off the banks. Not sure how many we hooked but it was more than enough to keep us busy. Jigs 1 - 2' under a float did the trick. I hope the guys are hooked on crappie fishing now! We caught crappie, perch, bluegill, pumkinseed, and even a 3lb sucker lol. Great day out. Water temps 68.1.

They should start to spawn heavy this week with the stable weather. Get out there if you get a chance.

If you don't mind sharing, what part of the lake were you fishing? I've driven by before but haven't fished it but really want a place to catch crappie. Also what color jigs were you using? If you are willing to share but don't want to tell everyone, you can email me trapperjack69@comcast.net Thanks for the report.

trapperjack - All white jigs seemed to work best but they will hit just about anything. I'll send you an email for locations to check out.

kevinb - The boat traffic was not that bad. After 3:30 you can only go 8mph so all of the skiers and what not are off the lake by 4pm.

islandbass - What's up dude? We can go this Sunday man!!! lol. I'm serious.

Hope to see you on the water.

Hooksetter - Lyons should be on fire right now. I may head out there at the end of the month. Good luck.
