I went to Upper Goose and caught 5 medium largemouth, and a few bluegill. Slow, so I went to Lind Coullee for a while. I had my grandson along, so we tried O'sullivan for a while, around Lind Coullee. That was almost dead. Quite a contrast to last week. I wanted to get him into some fish, so we went to another spot in a wasteway, and we caught a few smallmouth. The hightlight of the trip though was another catfish, roughly 14 lbs, caught by my grandson, age 9. He handled it well on 8 lb test, and when I asked if he wanted to keep it or let it go, he opted for catch and release. Sadly, my wife had the camera on a trip to Oregon, but I won't need help remembering the look on his face, or the 50 recountings of the experience on the way home. To his credit, the fish did not keep growing.
A few days ago I took a brief trip to Hutchinson (diehard after 3 flops) and caught a skinny 22" largemouth, and a half pound bluegill (all I caught). Both were riddled with parasites. Anyone know what's going on there?
good fishing to all.
