We had a club bass tournament at Chelan this last weekend and what a great time. Saturday was a little windy...okay it was really windy, but that is something you have to deal with when fishing Chelan. I lived in the town of Chelan for 3 years and the wind is just part of it. This was a little bit more than normal. 3 to 4 foot swells a few close to 5. The fishing was a little slow but but fish were caught. my first fish of the day was over 2 1/2 lbs which is nothing here. All fish that I heard of came off of plastics (drop shot, carolina rig, etc..) Most were in about 15-25 feet with the occasional fish at 30+ feet. Saturday we woke up to the wind and decided to wait it out. Well come to find out it was just windy where we were camping the lake was great. Went out at about 10 (launch was at 6, like I said we decided to wait it out) Caught a few fish quick the bite was much better on Saturday. Lost three fish one broke me. Lake Chelan is probably one of the states better small!
mouth fisheries. Several fish in the 6 and 7 lb range are caught every year. It says in the lake over view that there is a limited smallmouth fishery. I just wanted to let people know that if you are there give it a shot. Good luck and tight lines.
