Started out last Monday on Osullivan and knocked the walleye out! caught our limits before 5 that day fishing in 25 feet of water off the humps of lower crab creek while all the other fisherman were up in the top of crab creek fishing the flats in 14 feet. They may have had some luck up there in 14 but from what I saw they weren't catching anything. So we dropped back down in to deeper water and BAM! They would go anywhere from 18 to 23 inches.
Then we headed up to Banks for a few days and caught some early males moving into 18 feet of water. Average size was 18 inches. After getting rained on and dealing with the wind we moved back down to Osullivan and got a few more. Finally was able to locate Winchester Creek and a few LMB but they were pretty scarce as the Carp were stacked up like a salmon run.
Then on Sunday we headed up to take a charter out of Anacortes and went ling cod fishing. I have to let everyone know NOT to take this charter. When I made the reservation I asked the captain if he had a bathroom on board and he said yes we do. The reason why is because my brother has MS and he has to go frequently and I told him so. We get on the boat which was supposed to leave at 5:30 and didn't get out until 6:45. I asked where the head was when we were out of the harbor and he pointed to an antifreeze bottle with a hole cut in it. By then it was to late to turn around and my brother stressed all day about it. The captain was berating us about losing weights (we lost two), snapping hooks, and losing bait the whole time. Heck I'm paying for it buddy! He had something condscending to say to each one of us for 6 hours while we were out there. He was a pompous, arrogant, condecending jerk the complete time. Not to mention he snapped the barbs off of our hooks, gave us single hook leaders while he gave double hook leaders with the barbs on to his deckhand and also bait injections. All said I caught one keeper cod $465 dollars later and regret taking my brother and son aboard his boat and suggest that if any of you want to take a charter to go cod, salmon, or bottomfishing choose another outfit.
tightlines!
