Hit Eloika looking for some LMB in the Rain. Boated a half dozen 1-2 pound fish and one pushing 4 lbs. All fish released. We noticed a dozen dead bass on the surface all in the 3-5lb range around the lake. Anyone get word on what the issue is with big bass going belly up in Eloika this spring?

Nice fish! We noticed the floating bass a few weeks ago and contacted the WDFW and still have not heard from them. How bad is the suface cabbage, we plan on going out there Tues evening...

i'm not sure but i've been seeing a lot of them too.it's too bad .your report brings the total well over 20 dead fish that i've seen or heard of.i know the water level is really low this year and with all the thick weeds the o2 level is probably real low

I emailed the WDFW Spokane Office........... they contacted me immediately to get more details. They said they would be heading out to the lake today to investigate. There initial thought is overstressed fish from spawning. Surface cabbage isn't too bad..... compared to mid summer. You should have no problem hooking a few Largies on Tuesday. Fish on!

I have been out a few times and saw 3 dead ones myself also, i am very eager to find out what the case is, i posted a thread in the public forum a few weeks ago about the dead bass and the topic got way off hand, let everyone know what you hear from then ok?, this is one of my favorit lakes around. Stay safe out there.
