Just gotta say, I think Long is turning into my favorite place to fish. Headed out today even though the weather looked pretty questionable. My philosophy is if I can keep myself dry and warm then no problem.
Boat was in the water around 3:30pm and headed out of Nine Mile up towards Willow Bay. First place I came to I got the fish in the first picture within a few casts, a sweet 3lb 4oz Smallmouth. This is my largest smallmouth this year and possibly ever. Got her on a Timber Tiger crankbait near some docks.
Next, headed to an area that I tried last time with a buddy. I skipped a senko up under a tree and got the little one in the second picture.
There are some pretty distinct moments during the day that make me feel a good sense of satisfaction . An example is when I look at a tough spot and say "if I can get my lure in there I'll get a fish". Those times when I do get it placed correctly and I hook up, it's a reward that feels pretty damn good.
All in all, a very nice day on the water. Water temps were around 56-58F with no wind and overcast skies with some sun once in awhile.
