T4 Flatfish in purple glow and Luminous Chartreuse worked above the Narrows this morning. I trolled in the Narrows for 3/4 of an hour without getting bit, even though there were a lot of fish visible on the sonar. Above the Narrows we caught 5 Lakers and longline released 2 others in about 2 hours work in depths of 185 to 225. Then dropping below the Narrows we saw a lot of fish that didn't bite. We finished the 4 hour day with a weird one. I took pictures, cleaned fish and hosed the boat out while my guests were reeling in lines. I popped the next to the last line and handed it to Jaroslav. Just as I reached for the last line, it got bit. I handed it to Pavel, who quickly handed it to Jaroslav. He's into a fish. Pavel takes a couple more cranks and his line gets slammed. Doubles! About halfway up Pavel's fish lightened up... a lot. As they reel in I see their lines had come together. Jaroslav's line had the lure and the fish. His lure also had the the plug snap that the other lure was no longer attached to. It was kind of a magic trick. The snap was just open, not bent wide open... The weather was very wet to start with, but improved steadily throughout the morning. Tight Lines.
