Spent the last three days camping at Lake Ellen with friends and family. Arrived on 05-24-10 about noon and after setting up camp hit the lake for some fishing. I walked the shoreline and caught a 3" sunfish on a little red curly tail grub. My friend and I then proceeded to catch eight trout in about 20 minutes. We were using worms, with one split sinker. Most of the trout were this seasons stockers and around 8" with a couple around 12" or so. Eight was enough for dinner so called it quits. The trout tasted great!
On 05-25-10, fished for a couple of hours in the morning and evening. Used the worm and split sinker setup for a total of eight trout for the grill. Then used blue fox's the rest of the time because we didn't want to keep anymore. Over all probably caught a total of 16 fish. Again all around 8" to 12".
For a little while I went for the sunfish and caught 15 or so. Only problem was the sunfish were 2" to 3" in size. I couldn't locate any larger fish then this.
On the third day hit the lake just for a few minutes before we left. Caught two on a silver Kastmaster before calling it a day.
Overall had a great time at the lake. It was my first time there and I will definately return.
PS
Also make sure you keep your trash and food locked up. Had two skunks come into our campsite as we were eating dinner. Then when leaving, saw a beautiful black bear just before the first campground. Black bear was decent size and had a nice dark brown coat.
